Warm congratulations to Osama Khoury on the successful defense of his PhD dissertation at the Technion!
Osama’s research focuses on phosphorus recovery from municipal sewage sludge using hydrothermal treatment – a valuable contribution to the fields of circular economy and sustainable resource management. What makes this work particularly unique is its strong integration of experimental laboratory research with system-level implications, assessed through techno-economic and environmental life cycle analysis (TEA-LCA). This combination bridges fundamental process understanding with real-world relevance and policy-oriented insights.
The research was carried out at the Technion under the joint supervision of Prof. Sabrina Spatari and myself, and reflects scientific excellence, systems thinking, and a rare ability to connect lab-scale innovation with broader sustainability challenges.
Well done, Dr. khoury — very proud of this achievement!
